Imaris Software

Imaris is Bitplane’s core scientific software module that delivers all the necessary functionality for data visualization, analysis, segmentation and interpretation of 3D and 4D microscopy datasets. Combining speed, precision and ease-of-use, Imaris provides a complete set of features for working with three- and four-dimensional multi-channel images of any size, from a few megabytes to multiple gigabytes in size. XTensions

Imaris Open fosters collaborations between microscopists, life scientists, and computer scientists. Imaris Open offers two distinct but linked spaces: the Discussion Forum and the File Exchange. There are four main activities you can engage with while using Imaris Open, 1) download a existing XTension, 2) request a new XTension, 3) submit a new XTension, 4) discuss any topic related to Imaris, image visualization, analysis and interpretation. Imaris Open and all its content are free to use.

1. Neuroscience XTension Pack 1 “Morphology and intensity analysis”

2. Neuroscience XTension Pack 2 – pre/post synaptic “Relative object distance analysis”

  • Quantifying the positional relationships of labeled receptors, pre or post synaptic puncta, relative to neuronal dendrites, cell bodies or other structural objects in the field.

6. XTension Pack for Advanced Object Movement Analysis

  • Performing the mean-square-displacement (MSD) analysis to determine the displacement mode of particles over time. Assessing whether the particle is: freely diffusing, transported, bound and limited in its movement. Estimation of the parameters of the movement, such as the diffusion coefficient.
  • Plotting tracks from a common origin in 2D or 3D space

SceneViewer

The Imaris SceneViewer software enables users to interactively view results that have been obtained in a previous Imaris session. A "scene" is a proprietary Bitplane file containing items like the volume image, 3D and 4D objects, animations, and parameters that determine the appearance of these items.

Use the Imaris SceneViewer to freely zoom, pan, and navigate through scenes and take high-definition snapshots of selected views. If the scene contains a key frame animation the scene viewer acts as an disk-saving movie player because the Imaris SceneViewer computes the animation on the fly.

The Imaris SceneViewer is ideally suited to show and share results generated with Imaris. Think of the SceneViewer as Bitplane's analogy to Adobe's Acrobat reader. Users generated scenes with Imaris (the writer) and are now able to share their work with anyone for free.

Although the software is available free of charge it still requires a license to run. This license is available upon completion of the following form and subject to a positive screening of the application.
